Welcome to the Black Rainbow Film Festival, organized by the Black Rainbow Movement! We are dedicated to addressing the historic lack of representation for people of color and Queer communities in media. Inspired by the efforts of visionary creators like Jordan Peele, Misha Green, Issa Rae, and Patrick Ian Polk, we aim to extend the renaissance of POC representation to a local level. Our mission is to incentivize filmmakers in our community to create empowering roles and produce art that celebrates these communities.

The Black Rainbow Film Festival offers an immersive experience that bridges the gap between audiences, filmmakers, and actors. We invite you to join us and contribute to the richness of this experience.

In line with our mission, films submitted to the Black Rainbow Film Festival must include queer people of color in essential roles that go beyond stereotypes. We encourage filmmakers to imagine and portray queer POCs in roles they have never been seen in before. We particularly request that the following tropes be avoided: Magical Negro, Token Black Friend, The Mammy, and The Thug. We value authentic and nuanced representation.

By submitting your film, you agree to the terms outlined in the General Rules section of the Black Rainbow Film Festival. Submission grants us the right to utilize an excerpt (up to 2 minutes) from any accepted film for promotional purposes. You warrant that you have the authority to submit the film for screening and understand and accept the requirements and regulations outlined. As the submitting person or entity, you shall indemnify and hold harmless the Black Rainbow Film Festival, its affiliates, and associates from any claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses arising from any copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, or loss of or damage to the submitted screening videos.
